Low Carbon West was developed in 2013-2014 by WAGA, LeadWest and Western Melbourne Regional Development Australia as a blueprint for transition to a low carbon economy in the WAGA region.
The project developed a baseline for the west’s carbon emissions, identified objectives for the plan and consulted on 20 priority actions to fulfill them. It aimed to support the growth of the WAGA region while limiting the increase in greenhouse gas emissions associated with the growth. In 2015, WAGA commenced implementation, focusing on actions to assist the transition into a low carbon economy across four sectors including business and industry, urban growth and development, transporting people and freight and communities.
The Western Alliance for Greenhouse Action (WAGA) respectfully acknowledges and recognises the Woiwurrung, Bunurong, Wadawurrung and Dja Dja Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work and we pay respect to their Elders, past, present and future.
