Battery Electric Vehicle Integration Project

WCC_Electric vehicle charging stations

In a collaborative project WAGA is supporting the Cities of Wyndham, Moonee Valley and Brimbank to transform their vehicle fleets to electric alternatives in the Battery Electric Vehicle Integration Project.

The project will involve the replacement of existing fleet vehicles nearing the end of their operational life with Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and the installation of associated charging infrastructure.

With a collective fleet of more than 400 vehicles at the three Councils, the project provides an opportunity to demonstrate how light and heavy vehicles in council fleets can be transitioned to BEV alternatives. It will also test ways to overcome challenges in bringing electric vehicles into fleets, such as procurement or technical issues, costs, and day-to-day operations.  It aims to understand charging infrastructure needs and strategies for managing electric vehicles to make fleet electrification easier alongside increasing the skills, capacity and knowledge relevant to integrating BEVs into vehicle fleets.

The total value of this project is $8.8M with 2.22 million co-funded by Arena.  It will be deployed over three years, ending in June 2027.
