VECO hits $14.3M in electricity cost savings

61 councils have now joined VECO (Victorian Energy Collaboration), a long-term renewable energy Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). As of April 2026, it had delivered more than $14.3M in collective electricity cost savings while achieving net zero electricity consumption for participating councils and supporting the development of Victorian renewable energy infrastructure. VECO highlights that large-scale collaboration across councils is possible to transition to a renewable energy future and address climate change. An additional 15 councils have joined VECO since the original 46 councils joined in July 2021 – making 77% of all Victorian councils part of the VECO contract. VECO is the largest ever emissions reduction project by local government in Australia.
