The All Electric Councils Community of Practice (AEC COP) is led by WAGA and CVGA on behalf of the Victorian Greenhouse Alliances and is open to councils throughout Victoria to support their transition to all-electric, energy-efficient operations. The AEC COP has been running since 2022, following development of the ‘All Electric Councils Electrification Foundations paper’, a guidance document led by WAGA and produced by FG Advisory Consultants. The paper is a valuable resource for local government sector stakeholders, providing guidance on council energy use baselines, breakdowns of emissions, technology applications, critical implementation considerations and relevant finance and procurement models. Furthermore, the paper delves into future opportunities beyond electrification, such as smart building technologies, off-site renewables, energy storage, and electric vehicle (EV) charging.
