The Western Metropolitan Partnership has been established for state and local governments to work with the community in the west of Melbourne to address ‘the most important challenges and opportunities’ in the region.
The Partnership is one of six across metro Melbourne. Members of the Western Metro Partnership are the CEOs of six of our councils (Brimbank, Hobsons Bay, Melton, Maribyrnong, Moonee Valley and Wyndham) and community and business leaders, including well-known luminaries such as Anne Barker (Chair of LeadWest and a commissioner of the Victorian Building Authority, formerly MD of City West Water) and Peter Dawkins (Vice Chancellor and President of Victoria University).
Here’s some information about the Western Metropolitan Region Assembly, the Partnership’s first major event:
‘The Western Metropolitan Partnership is an exciting new way of engaging with local communities and giving people the opportunity to have a say on the future of their region.
The people who live in the West know the opportunities and challenges facing their community better than anyone. By joining the conversation online or by registering your interest to attend the 2017 Assembly, you can help shape the future of the Western Region.
The Western Assembly is taking place Wednesday 4 October 2017, 5.30-8.00pm in the Western Region.
The Assembly will bring people from within the community, together with business and government to discuss the top priorities for the region, which will then be shared with the Victorian Government.

WAGA will attend to give people the latest news about Low Carbon West, our plan for transition to a low carbon economy in the region. We’ll want to promote the importance of addressing climate change in creating a resilient community and businesses. Most importantly, we’ll hear what others in the region are doing and hopefully find new ways to collaborate.
