Brimbank Council has installed and flicked on an 82 kilowatt solar installation on the top level of the Brimbank Multi-deck Car Park in George Street, Sunshine. The solar panels will provide nearly all the electricity required for the car park. They’ll also act as a roof over the top level. What’s really exciting is that the solar will power electric vehicles added to the council’s fleet, through a dual-port electrical vehicle charging station.
This initiative will help Brimbank achieve its goal of sourcing 100 percent renewable energy by 2021 for all its buildings and streetlights and its target of reducing greenhouse emissions by 50 percent by 2023.
