Low Carbon West is a blueprint for transition to a low carbon economy in the WAGA region, developed by WAGA, LeadWest and Western Melbourne Regional Development Australia. This strategy provides the main guidance for WAGA’s carbon mitigation work.
In 2013-2014, the project developed a baseline for the west’s carbon emissions, identified objectives for the plan and consulted on 20 priority actions to fulfill them. These include projects that we know will significantly reduce emissions and actions to facilitate business opportunities. The completed strategy was launched in November 2014. In 2015, WAGA commenced implementation, focusing on actions to reduce emissions generated by business, as this is the largest source of emissions in the region.
